Windows 8 release date announced for October 26th

Microsoft has been getting incrementally closer from ‘Fall 2012′ to ‘October-November’ to ‘October’. Now they’re finally ready to pin it on the calendar.

According to the Blogging Windows blog, Steven Sinofsky just announced at the Microsoft annual sales meeting that Windows 8 will be available Friday, October 26th.

Before then, you might want to review the news about upgrading to Windows 8 for $40 and the 4 different versions of Windows 8 that will be available then. That should also mean that the Microsoft Surface and possibly a number of ultrabooks that are waiting for Windows 8 (Lenovo Yoga) may also be available at that date.
