Paul Allen launches Stratolaunch Systems

Paul Allen has plenty to keep himself busy (philanthropist, investment portfolio, owner of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks  and the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers) but his latest project is an investment in revolutionizing space transportation. Called Stratolaunch Systems, Paul Allen teamed up with Burt Rutan and SpaceX to develop a means to launch satellites, shuttles, cargo, or people into space via its carrier aircraft or multistage booster rockets. The carrier aircraft has a wingspan greater than the length of a football field, weighs over 1.2 million pounds, and will be lifted by six 747 engines.
