Redbox Instant launches streaming offering in beta

The Redbox streaming competition to Netflix has been in the rumor mill for quite a while. Today it launched a substantial beta version. Redbox Instant by Verizon is being rolled out by access code only. You can sign up for an unlimited streaming plan with 4 DVD credits a month redeemable at Redbox kiosks. According to the Redbox Instant Twitter account, you will be able to use those DVD credits for Blurays for another dollar

The service is available on Windows, Mac OS X, and select Samsung Smart TVs. It also has an Android and an iOS app ready.
