PopCap to start riding the merchandising wave

PopCap, makers of popular games like Bejeweled and Plants vs Zombies, is finally getting on-board the licensing train. With Rovio’s Angry Birds licensing everything under the sun from fruit snacks to plush toys, it’s about time PopCap followed suit.

PopCap has had their share of counterfeit goods being made from their intellectual property, so they are bringing out official lines of the adorable plants and zombies with wallets, plush toys, vinyl figures, shirts, calendars, and more. Plants vs Zombies will be arriving in stores soon with other franchises available in 2013.

Now, what I’d really like to see is Plants vs. Zombies 2 for the PC or, at least, genetically modified plants that can defend a home from a zombie invasion.
