New iPhone ad boasts ‘Do Not Disturb’ feature which encounters bug the same day

Happy New Year! If you stayed up late the night before to ring in 2013 and perhaps enjoyed a little alcohol with an expectation of having today off, you might owe your iPhone a thanks for the extra sleep. January 1st, 2013 the iOS 6 feature ‘Do Not Disturb’ for iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads was found to linger a bit longer than its schedule.

The feature allows a device to be set to silent mode for a set amount of time. Today, however, the feature did not automatically disable itself. To fix the issue, the date can be changed but that is an inconvenient temporary fix. Apple does not have a fix available yet. If you missed calls or could not reach iPhone owners today, you may now know why. On January 1st, 2011, Apple similarly had a ‘new year’ bug with its alarm app.

Interestingly, Apple also released a new ad today that focuses almost entirely on the Do Not Disturb feature. The ad features Venus and Serena Williams playing ping pong. It is embedded below for your viewing pleasures. Perhaps the Apple marketing team couldn’t be reached to delay the release of the ad.
