Lenovo announcements at CES 2013

Lenovo made a number of announcements preceding CES 2013. The announcements include new IdeaPad laptops with touch interfaces for Windows 8, a new gaming PC, a touch monitor, a 27-inch Table PC, and others.

Lenovo IdeaPad U310 and U410  Ultrabook devices have gotten an upgrade with 10-finger touch support displays. The IdeaPad U310 Touch will be available starting in March. Models start at approximately $779. The IdeaPad U410 Touch will be available starting in April. Models start at approximately $850. The new IdeaPad Z400 and Z500 laptops were also announced. They feature 10-point touch in 14 or 15.6-inch displays, Dolby speakers, up to Core i7 processors, and Nvidia GeForce graphics. The IdeaPad Z500 Touch will be available starting in April. Models start at approximately $699. The IdeaPad Z400 Touch will be available starting in March. Models start at approximately $699.

Lenovo also introduced a new desktop designed for gaming with their Lenovo Erazer X700. Besides looking stylish, the box comes with 32GB of RAM, dual graphics cards support, and third generation Intel Core i processors. The Lenovo Erazer X700 will be available starting in June. Models start at approximately $1,499.

The IdeaCentre A730 all-in-one desktop has a 27-in Quad HD or Full HD display that supports 10-point multi-touch. The thin frame sports a 3rd gen Intel Core processor and up to 1TB of storage. The IdeaCenter A530 is more affordable with a 23-inch optionally touch screen. The IdeaCentre A730 will be available starting this in June. Models start at approximately $1,499. The IdeaCentre C540 will be available starting in February. Non-touch models start at approximately $549. Touch models will be available in June.

Lenovo introduced the ThinkPad Edge E431 and E531 as the first ThinkPad laptops with Lenovo’s OneLink technology. This is to provide a single cable to Lenovo’s ThinkPad OneLink Dock. The dock has HDMI and audio ports as well as four USB ports and allows the the laptop and other mobile devices to be charged. More OneLink devices are expected in 2013. The ThinkPad Edge E431 and E531 will be available starting in May. Models start at approximately $539. The ThinkPad OneLink Dock will be available starting in May. Price will be approximately $99.

The ThinkVision LT1423p Mobile Monitor Touch is an extra screen for those on the go with touch capability. It is a 13.3 inch display with 1600 x 900 resolution protected by Gorilla Glass. The display is capable of 10-point touch or can use an electro-magnetic stylus. The ThinkVision LT1423p Mobile Monitor Touch will be available during Q2 2013 and the price will be approximately $449.

One of the more interesting announcements from Lenovo comes with its IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC. This is a 27″ display that can be oriented vertically or horizontally. Similar to Microsoft PixelSense, it can interact with physical objects placed on the display and multiple people using the display at the same time. The IdeaCentre is expected to be available early Summer at a price point of $1,699. A 39-inch wide-screen Table PC, code-named “Gamma” was also demonstrated at the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show.

Much of its concept is centered around games, like Monopoly, other games, painting apps, watching streaming TV, and other potential. The all-in-one PC uses Lenovo Aura multi-user, multi-touch interface. It uses an NVIDIA GeForce card and Intel Core i7 processor to power the large display smoothly. It includes an integrated battery so the experience can be truly cordless.
