Diaspora Co-founder Dead at age 22

Diaspora proposed an interconnecting social network between people instead of passing off that information to a hub like Facebook and other social networks back in early 2010 when Facebook privacy was at an all time low. It started on Kickstarter and raised funds from backers well beyond its initial goal. As this past weekend ended, it began to become known that one of the four co-founders of Diaspora had passed away, as first reported by TechCrunch. Ilya Zhitomirskiy committed suicide according to CNN Money, at the age of 22.

It’s a tragedy for any loss of life, especially one so young and who had proven to be determined and visionary.

Diaspora continues to march forward as a new wave of invites were sent out for users to see the redesigned alpha version of Diaspora.
